In January of 2007, the FDA approved Artefill® for use in the United States. Artefill® is the first long term to permanent injectable filler approved by the FDA and it represents a new chapter in non-invasive cosmetic treatments. Studies have shown that the cosmetic effect of Artefill® persists for 10 years or more. As a result, Dr. Rivkin’s facial sculpting and non-invasive cosmetic procedures can now have an effect that lasts for a semi permanent to permanent period of time!
The cosmetic result of the Non Surgical Nose Job will now persist just as long as the result of surgical rhinoplasty. Our patients will experience permanent results without the bruising, risk, expense and downtime of surgery. The Non Surgical Chin Augmentation or Non Surgical Cheek Augmentation procedures will provide the same permanent volume correction as surgical chin or cheek augmentation with a silicone implant, but without surgery! Our patients can now take advantage of the increased precision of the non-surgical treatments to permanently correct small bumps or deviations on the nose easily and relatively inexpensively.
Artefill® is also very useful as a long-term correction for nasolabial folds (smile lines), vertical frown lines between the eyebrows and the marionette lines that come down from the corners of the mouth. When using Artefill®, Dr. Rivkin is very conservative, filling in these lines over 2 or more visits so that the result is always perfect and never overfilled. He approaches his facial sculpting procedures in the same way. The permanent effect is established over a couple of sessions.
