Offering PRP and Microneedling in Los Angeles

Our faces and our hair are the first thing others see when they meet us. Much of the aesthetic judgements that people make is based on their evaluation of a person’s face and hair. These parts of the body are also the most exposed to the elements and are the first to suffer damage. The sun, the wind and air pollutants all wreak havoc on unprotected skin and hair. These vulnerable areas are the first to show the signs of “wear and tear” which is seen and labeled as “aging”. We now have a simple natural procedure to help correct these changes and roll back the clock on your face, lessening the process of aging or hair loss.

PRP, “Platelet Rich Plasma”, is a minimally invasive procedure performed completely in our office with minimal down time or discomfort. A small amount of the patient’s blood is extracted and processed on site to produce a solution which contains a high concentration of platelets and growth factors. This solution is then both injected into the skin and applied topically. The PRP has been shown to cause the release of additional growth factors which stimulate the treated area to produce collagen and other components of skin. It also stimulates the regeneration and synthesis of blood vessels, fat, muscle cells and bone. This results in the injected areas appearing revitalized, fresh and glowing. Since PRP is made from your own blood, there are minimal side effects. Swelling and discomfort are mild and there is no risk of allergies.

    Microneedling in Detail

Topical application of the PRP solution is preceded by a process called Microneedling, where a specialized device uses a series of small quickly moving needles to create thousands of “micro channels” or holes in the upper layers of the skin. By itself, this procedure will stimulate collagen formation resulting in a thickening of the upper layers of the skin, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles, shrinking of the pores and stimulating hair follicles to produce new hair growth. When used in combination with PRP, Microneedling is even more effective. Topical application of the PRP solution after Microneedling permits the growth factors to access the deeper layers of the skin, enhancing the effects of collagen growth and cell turnover. A “PRP facial” with Microneedling provides your skin with a wonderful youthful glow with minimal downtime, as the PRP actually speeds the healing process.

    The PRP Injection

Often we will combine PRP injection with PRP Microneedling. For example, we use both procedures together for the rejuvenation of the under eye areas. Fine lines and wrinkles under the eyes makes one look old and tired. After a course of PRP with micro needling, the under eye areas become tighter, fuller and revitalized.

For optimal results, we recommend 2 to 5 treatment sessions, spaced apart by 6 to 8 weeks.

What to Expect After a PRP and Microneedling Procedure

Most patients experience some mild swelling for a day and redness for 3 to 5 days after the procedure. The redness can usually be covered by make-up and most patients can return to work with 1 to 3 days after the procedure. Bruising can happen, especially if PRP injections are used during the procedure. Most of the time bruising is mild and can be covered up with make-up. Duration of bruising varies with the individual, but is rarely more than a week. Although patients may experience some mild discomfort during the procedure, there is no pain after the PRP treatment.

    O-SHOT

(A treatment for female sexual dysfunctions)

A healthy sex life is very important, as research has shown that it provides great benefits to the mind and body. Yet, as high as 43% of women, are reportedly suffering from various sexual dysfunctions such as poor lubrication, painful sex and inability to orgasm. A considerable percentage of men also suffer from several sexual dysfunctions, including forms of Erectile Dysfunction (ED) and Peyronie’s Disease. But unlike women, men’s issues have a long history of treatment with pills and injections. Fortunately, there is a natural, almost painless and quick non-surgical treatment that may relieve both men and women from these sexual dysfunctions: The O-shot and P-shot treatment.

O-Shot is an innovative approach to helping resolve sexual dysfunctions in women using purely natural means. The process involves using the patient’s own platelets to rejuvenate and revitalize her genital tissues. The result of this is a dramatically increased sensitivity and improved sexual health. For women, it can also give them relief from urinary stress incontinence.

The O-Shot (Orgasm shot) involves two to four tiny injections into specific areas of the female anatomy, namely the (O-spot) and around the base Clitoris. The O-spot is located just inside the vagina on the anterior wall. To make the process painless, a numbing cream is first applied to the areas, 10 – 20 minutes before the injection. After the treatment, many women who suffer from urinary stress incontinence, experience relief. Improvement in sexual sensation and function is usually noticed between 3 weeks to 6 weeks after treatment and patient reporting have shown these improvements continue for up to one year.
The O-shot has been shown to boost the confidence and quality of life in women. The procedures may improve sexual capabilities, stamina and sensation, resulting in a greater satisfaction with your sex life

Though O-shot treatments are recommended for treating sexual dysfunctions, they are not for everybody, as other treatments may be more suitable for you. You should consult an experienced Physician trained and certified in these specialized procedures for advice. This will help you understand the options and make the right treatment decisions to best satisfy your sexual needs and desires.

    P-SHOT

(A treatment for male sexual dysfunctions)

For men, the P-shot (Priapus Shot) is used to improve the blood flow to the penis, which results in an increased sensitivity and hardness of the penis. Some men also notice an increase in the length and girth of their penis both when erect and when flaccid after receiving a P-Shot treatment. Patient reports have noted a shortening of the “refractory period”, which is the time needed between being able to achieve subsequent orgasms. The P-shot stimulates the growth of new blood vessels, which improves blood flow along the corpus cavernosa. It also promotes the release of many growth factors, stimulating the rejuvenation of tissues comprising the penis. The P-shot has also been used to treat a disease condition in men, called Peyronie’s. Peyronie’s disease is penis problem caused by scar tissue, called plaque, that forms inside the penis. It can make the penis to bend upward or to the side. Most men with Peyronie’s disease can still have sex. But for some, it’s difficult or painful.

In January of (2010), researchers at the University of California School of Medicine injected adipose-tissue derived stem cells into the penis of diabetic rats. The results obtained were to “improve erectile function and to alter the micro architecture of the corpus cavernosum with an “increase in the number of endothelial cells” in the corpus cavernosum. This translates into the rats having a harder penis with more tissue, resulting in an increase in the size of the organ. They report that the number of stem cells was so small that they think that the results came from the “paracrine” effects of the fat. This means that they thought the growth factors in the fat are what caused the improvement. These are the same types of growth factors found in huge quantities in the PRP derived from the patient’s blood.

As early as 2003, an article out of Boston in the Journal of Urology (J Urol 2003, click here to view), discussing new therapies for erectile dysfunction, suggested, “neovascularization using vascular growth factors has been recently demonstrated to be feasible in animal models.” Translation: If you inject growth factors into an animal’s penis, then it grows new blood vessels and new tissue and gets a bigger harder penis. So, 7 years ago, this was suggested as a possibility for people-animals. PRP is a way of supplying those growth factors. The P-shot has been shown to boost the confidence and quality of life in women and men. The procedures may improve sexual capabilities, stamina and sensation, resulting in a greater satisfaction with your sex life.

Though P-shot treatments are recommended for treating sexual dysfunctions, they are not for everybody, as other treatments may be more suitable for you. You should consult an experienced Physician trained and certified in these specialized procedures for advice. This will help you understand the options and make the right treatment decisions to best satisfy your sexual needs and desires.

    PRP Hair Growth Stimulation

Another effective use of PRP is for hair growth. The loss of hair is due to multiple different factors. The most common cause of hair loss or “alopecia” may be effectively treated with PRP and micro needling. The hair follicle from which hair arises depends on the surrounding blood vessels to provide nutrients and growth factors. As one ages these blood vessels become less effective in supplying the hair follicle which then shrinks and stops producing hair. Studies have shown that improving the blood supply to follicles improves the health and functioning of the follicle. The growth factors produced by PRP stimulate new blood vessel growth which promotes hair growth, as well as increasing follicle and hair size. After two to three treatments, patients report a thicker, fuller head of hair.
