First, I am now using Juvederm, which promises to be a very interesting new filler. It is made of the same hyaluronic acid as Restylane, but Juvederm is a slightly different formulation, so that it is less of a gel and easier flowing. This is good for injection, since there is less pain, bruising and bumpiness as compared to Restylane. Juvederm is also supposed to last 9 months, as compared to 6 for Restylane. Like Restylane, Juvederm is non animal based, so allergy testing is not necessary. Not that Restylane is a bad filler, but this does seem to be an improvement in certain ways.
I'm using Juvederm for lips and nasolabial folds for now. With time, I will be using it under the eyes, between the eyebrows and maybe even in the forehead lines. For now, I will continue to use Radiesse for facial sculpting (Non Surgical Nose Job, Non Surgical Chin Enhancement, Non Surgical Cheek Enhancement, Non Surgical Jawline Definition, etc) since the duration of effect for Radiesse will still be better than Juvederm. But now that we're on the topic of facial sculpting....
Artefill was just approved by the FDA on 10/30/06. This is excellent news for the field of non invasive procedures. Artefill is the first "permanent" injectable filler to be approved in the USA. It will last for a number of years in the body (more than 5) and should be an excellent tool for long lasting Non Surgical procedures. I will begin using it in January, which is when it will be released to doctors in the USA. Artefill does contain bovine collagen, so there will be allergy testing necessary prior to using the product. I'm conducting allergy testing now.
Artefill will go a long way to realizing my goal of providing people with non surgical cosmetic procedures that will be equal or superior to their invasive surgical counterparts. With Artefill, I can do a 5 minute injection and straighten someone's nose or eliminate their bump, and have the effect last for many years!
I'm very excited!
