What is Voluma?
Voluma® is an injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) filler that rejuvenates the face by restoring youthful volume to the cheeks, cheekbones, and chin. Voluma is the latest generation hyaluronic acid (HA) filler in the Juvederm line of products, which have been safely and successfully providing beautiful results to patients for many years. Dr. Alexander Rivkin was one of the first physicians in the nation to introduce Voluma to his Los Angeles and Westlake Village practice, after the product was approved by the FDA in November of 2013. Since that time, he has treated hundreds of patients with Voluma and has seen tremendous enthusiasm for the product. People love their refreshed, younger appearance and are delighted that the results are so subtle and natural looking that none of their friends can tell that they have undergone an aesthetic procedure.
The Juvederm line of dermal fillers relies upon hyaluronic acid to provide natural, long lasting results. Naturally occurring in the body, hyaluronic acid helps to hydrate and add volume to our skin. HA production decreases as we age, thus the moisturizing and volumizing benefits of the substance also diminish. When Voluma filler is injected into your skin, immediate volumizing will occur, providing you with a youthful, rejuvenated appearance. Voluma differs from other facial volumizers in that it carries a lower incidence of adverse effects. In comparison to Sculptra®, and Radiesse®, Voluma is associated with a lower incidence of swelling and bruising, as well as reduced occurrence of nodule formation. Clinical trials have proven that Voluma is uniquely effective in improving facial volume for a very long time. Most trials show that the effects of Voluma last around 18 months to two years – the longest duration for any temporary filler currently on the US market.
Another advantage of Voluma is that it is, like all hyaluronic acid fillers, reversible. A simple injection of an enzyme called hyaluronidase will dissolve the filler, either partially or completely. Hyualuronidase works on injected HA like Voluma without decreasing your native HA or harming your skin.
It is this combination of properties that make Voluma such a good option for replacing volume in the face. Results are long lasting, natural looking and reversible! The safety and advantages of Voluma allow Dr. Rivkin to offer this volumizing treatment to his patients in Los Angeles and Westlake Village, with absolute confidence.
The Voluma Procedure
The Voluma treatment typically takes from 15 to 30 minutes to perform. First, Dr. Rivkin will clean the treatment area, and apply a topical cream anesthetic for 15 minutes. After removal of the anesthetic, you will get some ice to chill the area to be injected. This decreases the risk of bruising and discomfort. Dr. Rivkin will then inject Voluma into the treatment site using a very fine needle or cannula. After the injection, he may massage the area to ensure that the product is properly distributed to provide even and natural results. we will then again apply ice to the treatment area to reduce any potential inflammation and bruising. After the treatment, you will be able to return to your normal activities immediately. Any visible side effects, such as bruising, swelling or discoloration, should be minor and can be easily concealed with makeup.
Am I a Good Candidate for Voluma in Los Angeles?
With age, our skin, fat, muscle and bone tend to lose volume, resulting in a thin or hollow appearance around the chin, eyes, cheeks, and cheekbones. This can be a result of the natural decrease in collagen (the substance that provides elasticity and firmness) production within our skin, weight loss, or age-related facial fat, soft tissue and bone loss. Treatment with Voluma injectable filler combats these effects by restoring volume to the face, providing natural contouring, and smoothing out the appearance of wrinkles. The results of Voluma are immediate and can last for up to 24 months.
To determine if Voluma is right for you and learn more about Voluma costs, make an appointment for a free consultation with Dr. Rivkin in Los Angeles today. After examining your skin, he may determine that another facial filler is more appropriate for you. Juvederm UltraPlus, for example would be the better choice if your complaint is related to increased facial folds and wrinkles, rather than a loss of volume. You can be assured that Dr. Rivkin will find the right facial filler for you, and that his years of education and experience will provide you with lasting, natural results.
Pros and Cons of Voluma in Los Angeles with Westside Aesthetics
The Voluma treatment is straightforward, but it is important to work with a doctor who has extensive experience in the use of facial volumizing fillers. Dr. Rivkin is an international authority on non surgical aesthetic procedures and volumizing treatments currently make up a majority of his practice. He frequently teaches other doctors how to inject for volumization at conferences around the world, as well as at training seminars in his office. When looking for a doctor to inject Voluma in Los Angeles, you should inquire about his or her experience with the product and other facial volumizers. Additionally, you should look at Voluma before and after photos of patients that have been recently treated by the doctor.
At Westside Aesthetics, we believe in a holistic approach to defying age gracefully. Hyaluronic acid fillers, such as Voluma or Juvederm, are best when combined with Botox and other procedures to help with fine lines and wrinkles. Botox can help to relax the muscles, thus allowing the product to fill in the lines and wrinkles for smoothly.
Voluma also has great synergy with our laser treatments such as Fraxel and Ultherapy, which keep the skin smooth, tight and youthful. If you would like to know more about Voluma, please call or email us today. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
